Fat Wednesday

The point was, I was supposed to pig out yesterday and give up something today. I pigged out yesterday and then pigged out today. I had a filet mignon with melted bleu cheese crumbles on it and some coffee at work, and at home I made chicken enchilada rice, bean and cheese chip dip, and then ate a brownie that a friend sent home for me. And a glass of milk. Mmm. And I'd love some more chocolate right now, too. It's been a nice, relaxing evening, though - we've watched several episodes of Mad Men, and then watched American Idol live.

I am reading (in fact, am almost finished with) The Thief of Always by Clive Barker. It's one of the ones my friend Danny sent me, and it's one of the shorter ones, so I thought I'd give it a shot. It's fantastic. I love it. I can't wait to read another Barker novel as soon as this one is done, which should be by the time I go to bed tonight.

Tomorrow I have two houses to clean and I need to drop by Goodwill to see if they have any jeans that will fit me, and a dress for Andie's wedding (I have a back-up dress in my closet, just in case, but I'd like to find something pretty and purple.)

Off to finish the last episode of Mad Men we were watching, and to finish this book! Very excited!

  1. I used to devour books faster than chocolate, but just haven't had time lately. I finally read one this week and now crave more :) Guess I'll have to keep an eye on this book list of yours for ideas for what I might enjoy next!
If you want a shopping buddy, I have a couple things yet to pick up... but we'll be forced to take the twins!

  2. Speaking of American Idol... can they possibly get any more sadistic? I'm just about over it.

  3. I'm certain they can find a way to drag 15 minutes of content into three hours... oh, wait, they did -- it took them two days (and three hours of tv) to get the final 24. And how many times can you use the joke of "well... I hate to say it, but... YOU'RE IN THE TOP 24!!!" Like, really, we are not buying the fake suspense these days. Maybe a few years back. Still, I love Ellen, so I continue to watch. For now.

Andie -- great to see you today! I am bound and determined to get that dress!!!

  4. Egad to Idol. When Kara sat down with that one girl on her chair I wanted to never stop throwing up. That was just about the most heartless thing I think I've ever seen. I'm just about ready to throw the whole thing overboard.

SAY YES TO THE DRESS!!!!!! :>)
